The FlowStick ensemble consists of marimbafonist Magdalena Myrczik and flutist Kalina Majewska. They owe their debut on the international scene to winning the American Protégé Concerto Competition in New York. The award was a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. As a duo they had the opportunity to play the Polish premiere of D. Schnyder’s Concerto for Flute, Percussion and Strings. The performance took place on the stage of the Concert Hall of the Music Academy in Wrocław, and the soloists were accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of the same university.

Instrumentalists from the FlowStick focus primarily on performing classical music arrangements for flute an percussion, but their repertoire also includes pieces by such composers as: T. Takemitsu, D. Schnyder, P. Klatzow, H. Hatzis, and M. Ptaszyńska. The musicians have solo performances with the orchestra to their credit. Both soloists had the opportunity to perform with the Philharmonic Orchestras in Poland, Kalina with the Koszalin Philharmonic, and Magdalena with the Zabrze Philharmonic and the Poznań Philharmonic

They are also winners of competitions and scholarship programs. Magdalena is the laureate of the 1st Prize at the Vibraphone Competition Drum Fest in Opole, the Second Place at the International Competition Marimba Festiva in Bambarg in Germany and the Award of the Director of the Center for Artistic Education. Kalina got the First Prizes at the International Competitions in Padua and Sogliano al Rubicone in Italy and the Second Place at the International Competition in Warsaw. She is also a laureate of the scholarship program of the Minister of Culture in Poland “Młoda Polska”.

They owe their knowledge to numerous workshops and music courses. Kalina took part in workshops taught by, among others, Denis Bouriakov, Michael Koffler, Janos Balint, Pierre Yves-Artaud and William Bennett. Magdalena, however, learned under Shoko Sakai, Conrado Moya, Svet Stoynanov, Beverly Johnston and Katarzyna Myćka. Both graduated from the Music Academy in Wrocław and finished their master studies with honors. Kalina graduated from the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz and was taught by the long-time flutist of the Philharmonic in Vienna- Dieter Flury. Magdalena was a student of Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Alicante. Her teacher was prof. Juan Garcia Iborra.
